ABA Journal Modern Law Library: Georgetown Law Prof Calls for Complete Re-imagining of Criminal Justice System in Chokehold

Host Lee Rawles talks to Paul Butler, a former federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. and author of Chokehold: Policing Black Men. Butler once put people in prison, but now believes prisons should be abolished. Rawles and Butler also discuss the racial inequities built into the prison system, Butler’s advice for young black men interacting with police, and his thoughts about a radical re-imagining of the criminal justice system.

Other episodes have featured Tig Notaro, Tegan and Sara, W. Kamau Bell, and more.

Nancy: “Out at Work”

Kathy Tu and Tobin Low host this super queer and super fun podcast about the modern LGBTQ experience. This year, they launched the Out at Work project, exploring what it means to be queer on the job. Nearly 3,000 people wrote in, and more than half said they are out at work, 13% said they weren’t out at all, and 35% said they were “somewhat” out, which is a squishy category all its own.
